This is a mix of thing. Watch and you'll see.

So the desk it's self has been made for me to my spec. The manbehind is an amazing chap called Guy. His stuff can be seen here

http://www.chunkyreclaimedfurniture.co.uk/

He is local to me which an added bonus.

My desk is the following

  • 140cm wide
  • 75cm height
  • 66cm depth
  • Pull out table 250mm deep 130cm wide
  • 3 holes for cable management

I was amazing at how fast Guy did the work. 2 weeks and it's done. Guy's kept in touch along the way with little updates. The desk is heavy and soild. Once done up it's not moving.

So here is the desk once built up........

I'm toying with the socket faces being horizontal, makes access to switches easyer, the cable coming off the plug will bend less.

The pc is ready, case is being modded (topic on that within this section).

I'm really rethinking a retermination on the cable. I need 2 decent jack to phono's.

I have a Dell PowerConnect 2816 gig switch that i might fit on the side or underside of the desk. The router will stay in the front room and a homeplug used (keeps her happy).

Thanks for looking. Let me knoe what you think

Pete :)

Looks like you're having fun.

For the wiring between all of those backing boxes you'd usually use single wires rather than flex. Look under conduit wiring on Screwfix to see what I mean.

Reliably terminating two wires from a piece of flex into each socket terminal will be a pain. It's likely to be too soft.

It'll be okay. Bit fidly but fine. It was what i was advised.

Hardcore :D nice choice on the speakers... you need a bigger monitor tho now :P

27'' is enough, i'm use to a 14'' ultrabook!

I found this out the hard way running grey twin and earth between boxes with plastic conduit. Wouldnt have been so bad, but there were also 3 bends to get round. It was an absolute nightmare!

Nice desk, I would have went for 5 twins, as opposed to 9 singles. Much easier to wire up!

They were cheaper on there own, looked cooler and more industrial i thought. It should have been 10 but 1 failed when i took it apart to see if i could powdercoat them

Loving the desk, and how big are those speakers to make the 27" monitor look small
