Reclaiming lost iTunes

Hi, this has probably been asked before so bear with me.

A recent hard drive death wiped out my collection. Before you point and laugh chanting something about backups - I did have a backup - albeit only about 80% of the stuff.

How do Apple treat people in regards to re-downloading content? Has anyone got any recent experiences they can share?

Is it just a case of sending them a support email or am I out of luck? I've heard anecdotal accounts of people being granted a one-time only redownload of all their purchases I just wondered how easy it was.

They should provide unlimited downloads of purchased tracks to your authorised installs - the once only thing is a complete farce.

I've heard people getting in contact with them and gaining the ability to re-download.

Should be easy enough.

Contact them. Do you have an iPod with all the purchases on? Can transfer them to your computer from that.
