Guys

Trying to find a budget router and I think im just getting bogged down in details because im just going round in circles!

It needs to be dual band and be able to stream games etc. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Thanks

TP-Link Archer C20i?
Cheap, cheerful, works well if you can put up with the interface being a little bogged down.
Wireless range is incredible.

Cool! thanks dmsims!

I just found this one:

** Don't post the names or link to competitors, thanks **

It is a little more expensive but it does have the external antennas. Are external antennas preferable to internal ones?

Not particularly.

In the UK wireless output is limited to *I think* 50mW so most manufacturers will ensure the output comes to this level. Essentially this means your coverage *should* be about the same across the board from one router to another.

In practicality this does vary and recently I did some throughput testing where the C20i TP-Link came out the same as its more expensive brother the C2 and even managed better throughput at longer distance.

If you need a built in modem though that skews the field and I'd recommend getting an ASUS DSL-N55 which usually test as being one of the better value models, they also go for hardly anything on big auction sites if you don't mind something pre-loved.
