Recomend build please

My old rig still running E8400 cpu. Out of touch with current specs but want to upgrade machine to play the latest games. Ideally on a budget. I have seen specs on games i3 and i7 not sure if there is a cheaper amd option for same performance. Guessing i will have to swap out mobo and hd5870 graphics card etc. I know the more you spend the better the machine but i dont want to spend more than £500. So if anyone could spec me the best performance bits for the price I would be greatful.

I can keep the case guess the 8gig memory will be redundant as mobo will change. Got 500w psu

You have a couple of choices, here is an I-5 with a slightly better gpu or keep the i-3 and get a much better gpu like the gtx 970.
