Got my first pay this month from my new job and want to upgrade my graphics from my 9800GT my budget is £150-£200 would prefer Nvidia as I know they have less problems with games I need one that will be fine with my 550w psu and something that would work well with my core i3 3.10ghz, I have 4gb ram but will probs be putting more into it next pay day

Id like a card that will let me play games in 1080p with medium to high graphics unlike my BF3 having to be on low 720p resolution, I have been looking at the 560ti but its seems as if there is too many diferent versions of it. I have been reading other peoples threads about new cards coming out. I have no problem waiting for a few weeks I just want to upgrade while I have the money and dont spend it on something stupid

thank you.

Asus and Zotac have good Non-Reference models GTX 560Ti and the one from EVGA is good aswell. You might want to spend a tenner or so more on the 448 Core edition witch is near enough a GTX 570.
However, it might be worth a wait for the GTX660Ti, it might be around the same price point, and due to release in the next month or so.

thanks, I'm just more worried about buying a card that is overkill for my system and will mean a waste of money for me

For future-proofing the 600 would be your best bet (depending on how expensive it is and if you will upgrade other bits in the future) but the 560 would fit in nicely with your current setup.

I kinda shot my self in the foot when I built my pc I knew sandybridge was coming and I wanted a pc I ended up buying a 1156 socket

Ill wait until the 660 is out but I dont think I want to go any more above as I dont even have a quad core CPU the 7850 doesnt really tempt me , I already have dirt 3.

If I was you, I would wait for the 660/650Ti, see if how well the 600 Series would integrate into your current system, but if the price point is to high, then get the 560Ti.

"would prefer Nvidia as I know they have less problems with games"

Is simply untrue, don't let that type of misinformation restrict you from buying the best card for your money.

A 7850 would likely be the most sensible option towards the £200 area, as you pick one up with a free game for £180.

You'll have the same issue of not having a quad core with a 660.

do you mean I wont see no benefit from getting that card?

It's not truely misinformation the OP just worded it wrong. What he should have said is "I would prefer Nvidia since they have drivers that are better built for most games" which is true. But that doesn't make them have less issues in general terms.

a 7850/70 is the best choice, very low power draw and highly overclockable, run really cool

the gtx 660 will be priced higher than those cards, just not worth it imo

If I am not going to see a difference then am I best just forgetting about getting a graphics card I don't earn loads of money each month I had the extra this month due to working a extra week due to my start date, I don't fancy forking loads of money out again for another mobo and CPU then graphics on top of it. I don't want Max in every game and ultra

something like a 560 (ti or not) will give you a massive boost from where you are now, but that will be about your limit on your current system
you should be able to pick up a non-ti for around £100 and a ti for a little bit more... in your position I wouldn't be splashing out £160+ on a graphics card, but saving for a new system if you can

Spoffle has taken to defending AMD more than Dave beast on here. I think it's the same person :).

At the end of the day it's their money do they can choose to spend it how they want even if you disagree with the reasoning. As I said in another thread: no smoke without a fire.

Should I buy a processor or the mobo and processor? I wouldn't have a clue what price to even try sell my old computer I have the stock fan that I haven't used as I have cooler master fan on the cpu
