Hi all

Can anyone recomend a simple and free PHP/MySQL based CMS system to setup a very simple website. It will contain mainly static information, with just a simple news page and simple downloads section for a few files, but will need to be updatable (content wise) by a complete techno noob (my sister).

Ive used PHPNuke in the past, but its waaaaay to complex for this. Ive installed CMS Made Simple on a site... but its anything from simple and has very little support documents, or support in any way. I really like the look and feel and simplicity of mojoPortal, but unfortunately its ASP.NET and my web host doesnt support this.

Any recomendations? Basically the most simple and idiot proof CMS you can think of that will still allow me to make it look nice (and clean, none of this stuff all over the place like PHPNuke) and allow very simple in browser content updating.

Thanks!

Have a look at Joomla and Drupal.

It is also possible to do this with wordpress which is easy to use and can be customised a with plugins, widgets, themes etc.

If you don't need something as heavy as Joomla etc you might want to look at Modx.
Simple, no bells and whistles but easy to update with content now and again.

Drupal is definitely easier to use than Joomla, and wordpress is even easier still, and if its just static pages its really simple.

Cheers guys

been looking around at opensourcecms.com and so far like the look of Concrete 5. Its very simple and the editor is very noob friendly. But I will keep looking.
