I guys & girls, I have a friend who is looking for a wireless router, his ISP is VM and the modem is a Surfboard SB5100, can you please let me know what would be the best router to buy at the moment.

is that cable or adsl?

if it's cable then WRT54GL with Tomato firmware (you add the firmware yourself from the polarcloud website)

Yes its cable, is the WRT54GL a Linksys router, I thought Buffalo, D-Link & Net Gear was the best ?

that's the best router imo (awesome awesome firmware) mine's never crashed -in about 8 months of using it

linksys=cisco now

cisco are the best

everyone else will agree

dlink have shoddy firmware at best, not used netgear

Where do you get the Tomato firmware from ?

Sorry just relised you have already said polarcloud.

Is this firmware specificlly for this model and make or is it for any router and what are the advantages of using this firmware

whats the difference between the Linksys WRT54GL & the Linksys WRT54GSUK because a local store to me stocks the Linksys WRT54GSUK but not the Linksys WRT54GL by the looks of it ?

get the GL it's a better router

wikipedia has loads of info on them

polarcloud website, you need winrar/7zip to extract the firmware from the file, then use the linksys screens to update to Tomato
