for the last 6 years or so I've only been playing fps and MMORPG, feel like a break from thagt so need some sugestions..

I used to love settlers so any games liek that around at the moment?

and any other realy good single player game, fun and game play over graphics or anything else...
 
I know its an FPS but F.E.A.R is a very good game and the graphics are amazing! if you havent got it, get it!. I take it you dont like football management games because they are some of the most addivtive games you can get, that football manager 2006 is very good.

Age of Empires 3 has not long since been out. Black and White 2 is also another good game worth a look at.

LOTR - Battle for middle earth
GTA San Andreas, vice city
Civilization IV
Homeworld 2
Cant think of any others at the moment, but that list should get you going.
 
Total War series.
I play Rome TW with the total realism mod, but there are lots of options when it comes to the series and I noticed the Rome gold edition at a reasonable price online just a while ago

When it comes to the 'Age of' games, I still play Mythology as the gameplay is much better than the Empires games even AOE3 I find is lacking.
 
Been playing Ground Control 2 and San Andreas quite a bit lately, found them to be a good laugh and nothing beats a good old game of Tib Sun or RA2

Got the demo for civilization 4 and thought it was utter trash :(.. However did see on a website that settlers 4 is out and cheap, so I will be buying this :)

Thats a good point I wouldn't mind a racing game, would need to be on the xbox though..

xbox = racing and sims
pc = fps and well everything else.

Racing games lend them self to a controller, no need for lots of buttons. Simplar and easier to use. Now try playing a fps on xbox, loads of stuff has been disabled or complicated sets of buttons have been devised to retain the function. Pretty sensible really..
 
i like racing games on keyboard just as much if not more, using 4 and 6 on the numpad for steering and W & S for accelerate / brake, and space bar handbreak, then it if requires it Q to look back and E for turbo. Hands res perfectly on those positions.

and NFS for where u need gears (drag race sections) use 8 and 5 for high low.
 
Being a bit of a (ex-)MMOPRG guy myself I've realy enjoyed a few of the older classic titles. Baulders Gate, Neverwinter Nights and Morrowind were all highly enjoyable. As for settlers type games Ceaser 3 (4 is out son I think), some of the newer C&C games and Age of Empires were also very good fun.

As most of them are a few years old it costs nothing to pick them up!
