Assett Management and Fault Logging Software.

Do any of you guys use any of ths type of stuff? Would you recomend it?

We have a large company with lots of equipment, printers, pc's, servers etc, but they don't like spending money.

So I am after some software that will allow us to log equipment in it, but at the same time allow us to log any faults against the specific bits of equipment, but it doesnt want to cost the earth.

Thanks guys!

How large is large? We use a variety of software for asset management and problem logging.

We use Altiris for asset management

We use Remedy for problem management

Those are our main systems for this but we have more than that.

Large is probably not massive.

95 Locations, 500- 600 pieces of equipment (maybe more).

Really would like something where the assets and the faults are logged on the same software if poss.

We use LANdesk, runs when client logs on and tells you every thing about the PC.

Often help desk software allows you to store details of machines and related history. We use something called Assyst its very good if used to its full potential but I must admit its not the easiest to use

Hmmmm am trying to avoid a multitude of apps, I know if I had the time it wouldn't be something that is that hard to create in PHP and MySQL but it is finding the time is all :(

My personal experience say a nice AS 400 data base with your own C++ application as a front end. We have been usign a CRM by Sugar which seem ok if a little counter intuative.

You mean a DB2 database? Not the easiest of solutions though.

I used to use c.support, quite nifty and sounds like its right up your street, as it were.

Its all web based, so can be accessed from anywherew with an internet connection, so no client software needed. All you need is a web server and you're away.

And yes, its does asset management (uses WMI to poll attached network devices) and also does call logging, resolution etc. Has nice charting features too
