hey guys.

I have been overclocking my pc using Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and using basic pc2-6400 Ram (dont no the name). I have to purchase DDR2 Ram for my other so have decided to move the RAM accross and upgrade to PC2-8500 Ram on this system.

In short i would like advice on reliable RAM to use on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R that will handle overclocks on my Q6600 from 2.4ghz to 3.6ghz but will not be to pricy.

Thanks

You shouldn't need to change the ram as 9 x 400 = 3.6Ghz and that is what your ram is rated at. Unless you need to do 8 x 450 to get to 3.6Ghz?

However since you have to buy some ram anyway, gave her your unbranded 6400 and just buy some decent quality Pc6400 ram. Don't bother wasting money on pc8500 ram as pretty much all good pc6400 will run at pc8500 speeds and above if you slacken off the timings to match the pc8500 ram.

Crucial seem to be having high failure rates so go for Geil, corsiar Gskill or ozs

It will cost you £32-35 for a couple of gigs

I use the '8GB kit' (4*2) of OCZ 6400's from OCUK in my EP35-DS3R, and it runs perfectly at 960... and it's just around £100 for 8GB.. thats quite a bargain !
