Hi - I have been building machines for about 30 years now , but my health is not what it should be & i need to upgrade my current loop so there is less maintenance required.

I can probably clean the loop as needed every 6 months. But i have to admit i am crap at modding.

My current PC setup is as follows.

  • Case : NZXT Switch 810 with DECMiflex filters.
  • Motherboard : M5A97 LE R2 - requires replacement
  • CPU : AMD FX-8350
  • Memory : Kingston KHX1866C10D3/8GX (32gb)
  • GPU : XFX Radeon R9 290X DD Black Edition
  • PSU : Corsair RM650
  • Drives : SSD Samsung 840 Evo Pro 250Gb
  • 2TB wdc 20EARS fitted in hot swap
  • 00gb hard drive to be removed(drive failure) replacing with undecided ssd
  • GRID+ for fans
Adding HUE+ at next upgrade

Cooling Custom Loop Parts
At the moment the Photon 270 is outside the pc next to the radiator.
As the hdd drive bays can now be removed and something put in its place . i.e. D5 - i have no/ little skills in modding but i have a drill!!

To briefly recap i need to replace mobo, cpu waterblock, new ssd & new tubing & might as well replace fans. With a possible radiator replacement.
I have not & wont buy a pump/cpu block kit. I have too much invested in custom loop parts & i will eventually be adding a waterblock to gpu in about 6 months.

I have a limited budget due to being out of work & disabled now.
So please some help with ideas on parts etc.

Thanks
Chris

I may go intel if i could find a mobo/chip that's affordable & can compete performance wise. I love my 8 core cpu - but i think AMD made a mistake when they stopped development with the AM3+ Chipset.

lol i don't oc , i use w/c because i live less than 1 mile from a quarry & have extreme dust contanimation , i would go through 2 or 3 psu's in a year. Until last year i used to.

The problem with the dust is with heat it bonds the dust to whatever it is on :-(
But yes i can see myself with an intel soon.

As for my motherboard it has a problem i cant fix unless i pull all the watercooling out of the way just to get to the damm battery. I need to remove battery to fix a bios problem that causes my pc to loose USB3 / Network & various other devices.

At the moment if i need to reboot - i end up rebooting to a pc that's barely usable & i have to remove the PCI bus from devices to reboot again & re-detect PCI devices.

This is the worst mobo i have ever had .. And i have had PC's all the way back at the beginning of the 286 days. lol

Oh yes i use the pc for a few things , watching films , playing games & reading ;)
So it's the I7 for me :)

I will be selling 8350 on ebay shortly after replacing it :D
