Hi,

I want to update my computer a bit. its main uses are surfing, Itunes & gaming - although Im not into high graphic requirement games, more like champ manager and Civalization etc etc.

This is what I think i should be considering to update from:

AMD athlon XP 2600
NF7-S mobo
2x 512 gig ram DDR Corsair PC3200 (200mhz)
Radeon 9700 pro graphics

I like to think that maybe one day I'd be brave enough to try overclocking, but im not so sure, however something thats overclockable would be nice.

I got somewhere near £500 to spend. If any of what i have above is definately worth keeping then please say so ... no point spending for spending sake. One other thing that i do know is that I'll be needed a new set of fans, i think i got carried away in my last order and order some fans that lift the damn machine off the floor when they turn on and the sound like they are doing it to !!!

thanks in advance guys.

Welcome to the forums, considering you don't run particularly graphics intensive games I'd probably opt for something like this and it still would be a decent jump from a 9700pro. The motherboard isn't supposed to be great for overclocking but ought to have at least some options.

thanks for the prompt response. I guess i wasnt clear in my email and having re-read it i now know i wasnt. I have all other components ie monitor and case etc etc the items i listed were what i suspected i should be upgrading. I have noted the items you listed, however in light of this new information what would you review.

sorry for wasting your time 8O(

No worries, even although you have a case already you will probably still need to buy a PSU as your existing one probably isn't ATX 2.0 compliant. I'd probably be looking for somewhere between 430w and 500w, the Enermax Noisetaker 485w for £60 is well worth a look. That ought to leave enough cash in the budget for the fans you need. The rest I would probably keep as it is.
