Im looking for an IPS monitor 27" to 30" £400 give or take.

Any suggestions? I have been looking at Dell, Samsmug, Asus, LG and BenQ and to be honest I've no idea which to go for.

Narrowed it down at all? Dell U2713HM, Asus PB278Q and ViewSonic VP2770-LED would be well worth a look. Check the reviews of each at TFTCentral

The dell is a decent choice if you actually get a good one. Unfortunately they suffer with all sorts of quality issues. The worst being appalling yellow backlight bleed.

I think the H version is wide gamut and isn't really ideal for gaming.

ohh I see. This is getting more complicated the deeper I look in to it. So maybe I shouldn't go for a Dell then?

I've had 2 Dell's, one was suffering from image retention and scrolling artefacts, the other one sufferring badly from color bleed. Fortunately OCUK are brilliant with their 14 day policy but I'm now looking at the Viewsonic VP2770-LED

I replaced my dell with the vp2770 and it is definitely a superior screen. Still some minor bleeding though

I received my Dell u2713hm from OCUK on Monday and is a perfect screen and has none of the problems associated with this model

Was a couple of months ago. First one had a dead pixel and awful yellow bleed. Second one was better but still had a fair amount of backlight bleed.

Do you notice any of the crosshatch effect which is supposed to be common on this monitor which has been reported on the Dell forums.

The cross hatch is caused by the AG coating. You can only really see it on a white screen if you look really close.

I'm on my second one, and it has just the same amount of backlight bleed. To be honest, it's completely and utterly unnoticeable under normal use and it's a fantastic monitor.

One thing that annoyed me with the Dell was a blue tinge to all the whites. The colours just didn't seem quite right to me.

yeah i had to tweak the calibration, as who did it at the factory saw things different to me
