My sister has taken to watching a lot of stuff on her laptop with which she has had hooked up a cheap and cheerful 2.1 set of speakers.

...Which have just died on her. :(

Can anyone recommend a nice set of 2.1 speakers (sub+2) to replace them? She's looking at under £50 but probably more around the £30 mark.

I'm looking at the 3 cheapest here really as a starting point, but if anyone can recommend any other brands/models that are better bang-for-buck that'd be great. :)

Hmm, we seem to have lost a lot of the good budget sets from here :(

I reccomend the following, but they unfortunately arn't here now:

JBL Creature 2
Altec Lansing VS2221
Logitech X-230 (X-210 possibly too)

If you could stretch to it, the Logitech Z-4s sold here are good for the money :)

The JBL are supposed to sound good as well as looking interesting :D
I have heard of issues with the VS2221 regarding noise if the sub cannot be placed suitably far from mains transformers/cabling
The Logitech are a good budget set but the headphone volume isn't altered by the speakers volume control.

Thanks. The Logitech X-230 seems to rate quite well and is a nice price. I guess she wont want to go overboard, as it is only for a laptop system anyway.

Any other suggestions? :)

I heard the X-210 briefly in a shop the other day. It was noisy in there, but they sounded clear enough. The 230's will be better :)

Another suggestion might be the Creative I-Trigue 2.1 3300 (or 3200). Available for under £50 (try looking on a famous auction site :) )
