I've got about £800 to spend on a new setup. I need everything and would like to stick it all in a Lian-Li PC-61. I'm not going to be overclocking, just playing games like BF2 etc and also storing and playing lots of music. I'd also like a nice 19" TFT. I'm not very clued up and have come up with the following:

Intel Conroe Core 2 Duo E6300 OEM
Sony 52x52x24 x16 CDRW/DVD Black
Sapphire Radeon X1600XT 256MB DDR3
300Gb Samsung / 7200 / 8 SATA
OCZ 2GB Kit DDR PC-3200 / 400MHz /
19" Hyundai TFT WIDESCREEN N91W
Levicom 350W ATX PSU Blue Fan LED
Lian-Li PC-61 PLUS Black Aluminium Midi-Tower Case

That comes to around £720.

Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated!

Edit -> I've left out the Mobo because I'm not sure which is best.

Most people are saying the DS3 is best for the E6300 and E6400 and the DS4 is best for the higher chips. Personally I don't really know that much about it...don't even know who makes the DSx range :p But I do read the speccing threads and it is normally mentioned. :)

Looks like you've left out the Heatsink+fan too? Get the retail CPU as the stock heatsink is meant to be good.

<edit> also you dont want DDR for conroe, you need DDR2 - which is actually cheaper. I notice the Geil is quite popular.

When you say everything, would you need a keyboard + mouse aswell?

edit: Also would be worth swapping the x1600 for a 7600GT, and getting a seasonic or an enermax 400~

How does OCZ® Value Pro 2GB DDR2 PC5400 667Mhz compare?

Also, I could strech to an x1800XT and and say a £40 PSU.

Btw ive left out the CD RW / DVD Rom (not sure what you wanted) so you can choose that.

Slightly over budget though... But a kickass rig :)

Personally, id go for my spec, as it has a 550W PSU. But that is a decent spec for the money.

yeh thats good! go for it apart from like syk said, better psu. 450W or more would be just a bit safer!

OK, how about a Hiper HPU-4M580 Type R 580W ATX2.2 PSU - Black?

Only component I'm worried about is the RAM, are you sure it will be OK?

I've heard the G.Skill is better for overclocking, how much £ u got left to fork out on a PSU?

I'm not going to be overclocking. Not much more, I'm already well over £800!

Have a look at my spec mate, it includes a 550W PSU, and is just slightly over £800..you just need to select a Optical Drive.

Ok, I've ordered a Lian Li PC7 in black and 2GB of OCZ Value Pro 5400 RAM, as everywhere was running out of both. I'm set on a x1800XT and the DS3 but am yet to order. The only real thing to decide on now is the power supply!
