Recommend a Car jump starter

You want to be careful jumping a car with a dead battery, if its got a dropped cell it will take your alternator out soon enough

Cheers that’s helpful.

I tried it earlier after getting home (only ran around 5 minutes) and it clicks so can hear the starter at least.

The plan is to jump it. Drive to a family friends around 80 minutes away for lunch. Then drive home again so that should charge the battery enough.

Then it’ll be left out here until November time when I’ll change the battery. I think changing it now and then leaving it for months would likely be a bad idea?

Yeah definitely. Tbh if it's somewhere securish, and not super expensive, then I'd just disconnect the battery.

Yeah. Gonna be in either a locked garage or a driveway depending on location.

Then when I’m out I’m giving it a full once over replacing any dried out rubber and will replace the battery.

Just with it being old (25yrs) . Wasn’t sure if it’d be ok being left or whether it needed the occasional run out.

I considered borrowing a jump pack when I went on holiday abroad recently, I have an old Volvo and while the battery is fine, it’s old itself so didn’t want to be stranded at 2am in the airport car park.

I subsequently completely forgot about the jump pack :o so took a 13mm socket with me and disconnected the earth lead once we’d parked up, locked the doors manually (the battery is in the boot which I left unlocked) popped it back on when we returned and off we went!

Probably unnecessary and not a solution perhaps for a modern car, but it worked for me! :D
