Recommend a car phone holder!

Hello!

Ordinarily I use the sat-nav built into my car for navigation, however a recent change of role requires me to travel regularly. I'll be doing so in a variety of different cars (mainly hire cars), with no guarantee of what I'll be driving from day-to-day. Given that I cannot be sure of a built-in sat-nav I plan to start using my phone for navigation. For this reason I require a car phone holder that satisfies the following requirements:

1) Will fit into any (or at least the majority) of cars.
2) Easily removable between vehicles, on a daily basis.

Given the above I imagine I'm best purchasing a dash/window mount rather than a vent mount, as I'm aware that not all car vents are compatible with vent mounted phone holders - Though happy to be informed otherwise!

Any recommendations? Thank you!

I have the Anker magnetic air vent one, works very well but it bends the vents a bit, used to have one that attached to the screen with a suction cup but I find them quite cumbersome.

A holder for a car phone did I hear you say?

I remember many years back my aunt (medical related specialist - can't remember exactly what off the top of my head) had something like that but it was attached to a briefcase sized unit which I believe was the battery as well (also had a pager).

I can't use the air vent ones in my car so I use a suction cup on the driver side window .

Mine is the official Samsung one and. Always been great

Back in the ETACS (1G) days, a decent transportable could find coverage and make a call just about anywhere due to the amount of power they were allowed to transmit and having a high-gain external antenna.

Doctors, vets, surveyors etc. all swore by them and only gave them up when the networks moved to GSM (2G).

There are some "universal" phone holders that fit into a CD slot (who uses CD's anymore anyway) so keep them from obscuring the windscreen as per the newsih regulations.... not sure if CD drives are always in cars now though (again... who uses CDs anymore?).
