Recommend a Compact Camera

Hi chaps, I enjoy dabbing with photography and was contemplating a cheap DSLR but chose to go for a compact camera instead [unless I can be persuaded otherwise]. I'd be using it for taking pics of city life, nature, people, my PC rig when I rebuild it, etc. :)

I found the Panasonic DMC-SZ1EB-K was a cheap but cheerful compact digital camera. Anyone have any opinions on this? I know most people in this forum area are semi/experts or photography is a hobby, so probably don't go so cheap with their kit! :D

Looks nice. :) Although I'm now contemplating a Nikon COOLPIX L310 instead. Anyone had any experience with one?
