Thats what i sadly thought you would say! I just thought there might be a glimmer of hope. The WDs are so expensive now i can only find some cheap seagates but after owning one in the past and a friend recently buying one and falling apart i dont want to go back there!

The only advice i'll give you is if you're looking at USB 3.0 drives, make sure the enclosure does not use a Jmicron bridge chip. Absolutely horrible and dosen't really work with any USB 3 chipset properly atm. Asmedia bridge chipsets are probably the best atm.

As this sort of information isn't stated in the product description perhaps you could advise the OP of specific makes or models you recommend or don't recommend.
