Hi guys could someone recommend a Mandoline,
Im looking for something half decent that will do all the basics like adjustable thickness Slicer. Cube, slice and julienne, ridged(crinkle cut) but without spending too much.

Ive seen loads of cheap models on amazon and ebay but dont really know what to get

Do you really need all those functions? I have a basic Japanese mandolin. It's plastic construction with a little slider to set the thickness and has 3 blades for julienne. I use it for slicing and middle julienne only. The small is too small and the large is really hard to push through the blade and I think for that size sticks hand cutting would produce a better outcome.

I find it excellent I routinely make coleslaw and pomme dauphinois/boulanger with it. It's dead easy to clean and takes up very little space in the cupboard. I did think about a bigger all singing all dancing steel version but I'm really happy with the purchase I made.

My only grumble is the slider based thickness setting device is not great it tends to slip in use, so I tend to use v thin or thick which is perfectly fine for me as that tends to be what I'm after anyway. If I was buying again I'd look for one with a screw to set thickness, but otherwise I am really happy with my little Japanese mandolin.

edit: I bought the KitchenCraft Japanese Mandoline from Amazon other models are available.
