I'm upgrading my lads PC, so want to buy a Q6600 to overclock on air to 3.0Ghz.

Looking at a new mobo (ideally with onboard SATAII and RAID 0,1,), a gaming grx card (Nvidia chipset and can play latest games for £120 ish), memory 2 x 2gb (thinking of OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Reaper HPC Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2RPR10664GK) or Giel Golden Dragon 2x2gb) I'll swop this for the Geil Dragon RAM in mine.

PSU I already have is a Hiper 580W SLi Ready v3. Case I'm going to use is an Antec Ninehundred (lovely case) and OS is Vista x64

All recommendations welcome.

I would say get either a P35 or P45 Chipset instead of the Nvidia range. Much better and more stable IMO. Have a look at the Gigabyte motherboards.

I would also recommened an Ati 4850 Gpu, which will be good enough and cheap enough for most games :)

Edit: beaten to it ;)

Thanks guys. In answer to the Hiper question, yes its the modular typre R but its the V3 as the v1 blew up!

I like the ASUS Mobo's and have the P5KC at the moment but it doesn't have the internal RAID, only eSATA RAID. It does have the P35 chipset so I'm happy to stay that way but I do like the Nvidia Grfx cards, never had an ATI, is it worth a try?

The 4850 is much faster than the equivalent 9800GT. The HIS version is something like £130, which isn't too bad.

The 4850 is the best card in its price range. The only NV cards worth considering over £100 are the GTX260 & GTX280.

I wouldn't say the 4850 is much faster, up to 10% faster for 30% more ££ though that was back in June when it launched. Since then there have been driver revisions from both Nvidia and AMD which have pushed the cards forward.

Seems the sensible thing to do is drop in the 8800GTX from your sig and treat yourself to a GTX260 .... go on... you know you want to!

Interesting, just reading the spec on the GTX260, I think I'll pay the extra and get a GTX280, which should keep me going for a few years. My 8800GTX is a really good card and can play anything I throw at it (not tried Crysis though) but I might just treat myself and let my boy have my 8800GTX.

Any recommendations on the Mobo?

OK, I've gone for the below:

DescriptionStock CodePrice inc VATArctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro HS-017-AR£18.39Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound (3.5g)AC-000-AC£5.74Asus P5Q Intel P45 (Socket 775)MB-277-AS£103.49Antec 900 Nine Hundred CA-065-AN£71.29Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient"CP-161-IN£160.99OCZ 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz Reaper MY-110-OC£74.74Corsair TX 650W ATX2.2 CA-008-CS£73.59BFG GeForce GTX 280 OC 1024MB GDDR3 GX-073-BG£344.99Grand Total£853.22

Thought about going for the Antec 1200 but I'm well happy with my 900 so the benefits weren't worth the extra £60. I'll stick my 8800GTX in this and I'll have the GTX280 and the Reaper mem, swap that for the Giel Dragon 4gb in mine and voila, we rocking and rolling.

Thanks everyone for the assistance and helping me get rid of £853 ;)
