MY recommendation:

FPS:
Orange box: 5 all awesome games. The HL2 series and portal have awesome stories and tf2 is pure fun online...
CoD4: Awesome but a tad short.
Perhaps bioshock

Strategy:
Civ4: BTS
Medieval 2: Total war
Company of Heroes
Supreme commander: Forged alliance

Crysis is just **** imo in terms of atmosphere and/or story.

Assasins creed has an okay story too.


But you're best off waiting 6 months, in that time you will have saints row 2, GTA IV, Mercenaries 2, Empire: Total war, RA3 and Civilization4: Colonization.

duh, just reinstalled steam and forgot i already bought hl2 ages ago for CS, not played that in 2 years either.

well i think thats enough fps for me to dig in for now.

but would rather play a different genre.

btw, is Mass Effect a keyboard/mouse game or gamepad game?

yeah read good things about bioshock in other posts and not had a decent scarer for a while. definatly playing that after crysis, but a bit expensive tbh

It's an interesting one. While i typically thing RPGs are a gamepad affair, mass effect actually implements a basic 3rd person shooter fighting mechanic so a mouse + kb is ideally what you want to use.

No one has mentioned driving games. GRID apparently is great fun and works faultlessly with the 360 pad, so if you're looking for a change of genre maybe try that?

bought Grid and Mass effect yesterday, going to return Mass Effect as it takes a bit long to get into.

Decided not to play hl2 as it looks so dated, seems stupid to spend £600 on upgrade and 1st thing to do is play a 4/5 year old game.

I think crysis and grid will do me fine for the next month. Them might buy bioshock
