Thinking about replacing my current keyboard and getting a good quality mechanical one i was originally looking at the Gigabyte Osmium because it has good reviews and i love all of gigabytes other things.
Does anybody have any reasons why i shouldn't buy the gigabyte one ? if so what other keyboards do people recommend , have around £100 for it want it to have back lighting :)

Vote here for the Qpad.

Sure it looks basic compared to the other offerings but it's well made and faultless. I love mine, couldn't think of a keyboard I'd ever 'upgrade' to, I'm done with gimmicks like hundreds of Marco keys and LCD's.

Nope, the gigabyte is a fine keyboard. I think it's Red Switches? If you don't like those.

There is also the new Corsair K95, which will be more expensive, the new Razor BlackWidow Ultimate, and the MK-85 here, with Brown switches. Really good.

I have the K60, and it's a great keyboard. But the K90 also has backlighting and macro keys too.

I'm waiting for the Roccat RYOS MK PRO to be released.

Sounds like I'm just bashing Roccat as per usual, but I'd wait a bit before jumping in. They QA, build quality, support, ect... are very dissapointing. I've been stung twice, no more for me. I've had no problems with my QPad or Zowie gear.

Yeah I loved my Roccat kit when first purchased but changed my opinion.
Kone + very good mouse if it would last a reasonable amount of time before failing.
Arvo kb is a nice and compact but key letters faded far too fast.
Sota mouse mat had a lovely glide to it but it buckled out of shape within 8 months.

I'm not interested in trying Roccat again.

QPAD MK-85 with cherry reds

Pay a bit more and get a Filco cherry red is perfect for gaming, tenkeyless too

^^ Not everyone uses WASD. I'm an old school FPS player and still on cursors - using the Ozone Strike which is perfect for FPS gaming (tho not much good for anything else).

I got my QPad MK-80 a few days ago and I'm very impressed. Great to type on, I no longer put way too much weight on the WASD keys and it lights up so I can actually see what I'm doing :)
