Im usually downloading files via Http, and firefox seems to fail at reconnecting downloads. Past 8pm my net usually gets very poor and unsyncs (poor phonelines in my area, nothing can be done untill the company/town fixes this)

Anyway, im wanting a good download manager program.

* No adware/advertising
* resumed DL's
* hopefully starts when a download comenses? But since its FF, doubtful..?
* queing and possibly timed start DL's
* doesnt need to be free, but its always good
* preferably a small background program, nothing too bulky/mem hoggy (Vuse takes care off that just fine :rolleyes:)

i'll even settle for an FF add-on if someone knows a good one

Any help appreciated :)

Free Download Manager as Greenlizard0 says below. Works very well with FF. Oh and you should be OK with the 'lite' version. The full version has Bittorrent stuff in it. If you torrent then just use uTorrent.

freedownloadmanager

This doesn't quite integrate with Opera - I don't know if it does with FF. It does with I.E. well.
Are you running oGet? I've read that installing oGet means you can pair Opera with whatever download manager you want. :)

Tried it, and reinstalled them all in various manners - but it doesn't seem to want to work.

It's ok, if I have a random page I wanna pull stuff from (rarely), then I just use the "Open with IE" function. :)

Hmm. This is one of Opera's biggest flaws imho. Its awful compatability with external download managers. :(

Just installed, thanks guys! looks good so far... nice customiszation =D
Good good. :) I'd say the GUI is a bit dated but it is brilliant. Had to download some stuff from a beta-testing server for a game. Downloading using Opera or Firefox was painfully slow, as in under 10Kb/s!, but with FDM it was banging along at about 100Kb/s! :cool:

It's very strange - I remember the option coming up with lots of download managers, and freedownloadmanager was selected. I clicked ok, and even after restarting Opera and FDM; no e.g. options appear on the right click menu. It's quite odd.

Weird. Latest version of Opera I take it? Not sure I've ever got oGet to work me now I think about it. Like you I just use another browser if I need to. Normally FF linked to FDM. :)

I use DownThemAll! built into Firefox and have never had any problems with it - the new version picks up most downloads and the ability to have lots of connections means even the most stubborn slow download site is reasonable. Not sure if it ticks all your boxes - but I like it.

I've been using Reget Pro for an age, and I really like it. $10, which isn't too bad. For Firefox, I use FlashGot for integration.
