Hi all,

I have an i3 4130 processor, 8gb of Patriot Viper DDR3 2400, and a little Gigabyte GA Z97N WiFi mini itx.

There is a barely used 450w Corsair modular psu i can use too, will be W10 on SSD.

Wondering what GPU in that really small size would be recommended for gaming at 1080p.

Really would like it as small as possible.

Cheers

Well I am still to decide on a case, but size restrictions are evident in the title as mini ITX length, so the same length as a mini ITX motherboard, dual slot as most mini itx cases offer that capacity.

Budget based on the partnering hardware and requirement to run from a 450w psu at 1080p resolution.

There aren't many ITX cases that need "ITX" GPUs. These are the only ones I can see on OCUK:

Of those, only the Lazer3D LZ7 and Cooler Master H100 were designed with gaming in mind. Most gaming-focussed ITX cases fit at least a 280mm GPU (e.g. Dan A4, Ncase M1, Fractal Design Node 202, Silverstone SG13 etc.).

To answer the question that was asked though, Palit 1660 Ti StormX. Or if you don't want to spend that much, the EVGA 1660 XC. There isn't really a lot of competition in "ITX" cards; AFAIK you won't find any AMD cards above the RX570 in this form factor.

The 1660ti is tempting, may actually be overkill for that i3 processor.

I am tempted to stick an Asus 1050ti from another pc in the mini ITX, its quite small with no pci power requirement.
Then use any budget towards upgrading my card then allowing me to pass the 1070 to my other lads pc.

For example the NZXT H400i can house ITX but it can fit a full fat triple cooler GPU so you would be better off deciding on a case first then see what GPU options you have.

Ok, Eldest lads spec seems sorted.

Case. Silverstone TJ08B-E Micro ATX. He had one before and likes it and wants another, happens to be another in loft.
Motherboard. Gigabyte GA-Z97N Mini ITX WiFi model.
CPU. Intel i3 4130.
Memory. 8gb Patriot Viper 2400Mhz DDR3.
GPU. Asus Cerberus 1050ti
Optic drive. Samsung DVD RW.
SSD. PNY 240gb
HDD. HGST 1tb.
PSU. Corsair VS-350 350w.
Windows 10.

Will add a Noisblocker 120 rear case fan too. Maybe a bigger HDD or SSD for games.

Guess I will buy a Noctua NH-L9i CPU cooler too.
