My mortgage fixed rate period ended and now I'm on 7.74% interest rate... Halifax won't give me another fixed rate deal because there's less than 2 years left on my existing mortgage.

Looking into getting back onto a lower fixed rate and also putting some credit card debt into it (debt consolidation). Spoke with L&C Mortgages earlier this week, but they stopped replying to my emails or returning my calls...

Can you please recommend a good mortgage broker?

I got a dim view of most mortgage brokers I'm afraid.

Some of them are decent genuine people, but a small percentage.

As much as they are a pain the other end L&C are pretty well audited and trained, interesting they stopped dealing with you though.

I'll have a look through when I log on to work today see if I can remember any of them that were any good.

I used Trussle, although i only used them as there was a cashback bonus which made it more beneficial than going direct. They seem to just use the same mortgage comparison sites that are available to the public.

Could you not go with Halifax on a longer term and then overpay to bring it down to 2 years? Otherwise i know First Direct offer unlimited overpayments.

Thanks for your help guys.

I guess as I need a small mortgage, the percentage they'll get from the bank as payment on the whole deal won't amount to much - so they don't care to follow up.
