Hi everyone,

It's about time I upgraded my mouse, been using a Logitech VX Revolution for a number of years now, and since I'm starting to game more I need something that's a bit more suited with on the fly switching, macro's, greater range of DPI, just general more programming to suit.
One of the most annoying things I experience is having to lift the mouse to get it to reset, I don't want to be doing this with anything else as this gets tiresome especially in games or when using Office programs.

So I tend to favour the claw / fingertip style and play games such as Arma, Watchdogs, Batman, GTA V (when it finally comes out). Sports games I prefer to use a controller so that's covered.

I've been looking at the following options:

Razer Deathadder Chroma
Corsair M65 RGB
Logitech G303

Am I looking along the right lines here? Is there any others that I should be considering?
I understand a lot of it is personal preference and how comfortable I would be with a mouse. Just trying to create a bit of a shortlist. A local store has got the above mouses I can go and try except the G303 which seems a bit scarce at the moment.

Budget is maximum of £65.

Thanks
Adam

I can't comment on the other two mouses you've opted for but steer clear of razer if I were you. Sure their customer service is good but it doesn't make up for the cheap nasty feel of their gear and the frequency at which they break. Had a naga for 6 months, had 2 replacements in that time. Ended up just buying a steel series rival on recommendation and haven't looked back.

I use a Zowie FK1 and EC1-A, both great mice. Although it doesn't have macro/software so it might not be for you. Great for FPS games though.

I've heard mixed opinions on the DA, personally I wouldn't buy Razer products but some people swear by that mouse,

Other ones that you could consider;

Rival - liked the shape but just felt cheap/hollow and I know a lot of people complain about the sensor having issues.

Logitech have a good range, I am actually waiting for the G303 to be stocked at UK retailers to try one myself, but others that are out (excluding the G302) that are good are G402/G400//G502 - Have tried them all (used a MX518 for 8 years). I think they are labelled more palm grip mice but work fine for claw.

Never had experience with Mionix but a lot of people rate the Avior 7000/Naos 7000.

All of these have software/customization to them.

I've bought and I'm now returning an M65 as I find the side forward button isn't reachable unless you palm grip the mouse. The middle scroll wheel button is really hard to click as well.

The DA is pretty big, not ideal I wouldn't have thought unless you have a palm grip.

I'm awaiting Logitech to deliver my G303, so fingers crossed.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I did have a suspicion that the Razer would fall flat when it comes to quality, seems like they haven't changed much. Also heard the Synapse software is a bit of a pain to use, and switching profiles is tedius.

I'm not the worlds biggest fan of SteelSeries gear, tried a laptop with one of their keyboards a while ago and was a bit too show off for my liking and lacked in feel.

Hearing good things about the Zowie although it is only a barebones mouse, think its one I'm going to have to consider.

Hmm I seen a lot of mixed reviews on the Corsair, but it's one that's easily obtainable from a local retailer so I need to go try it out when I get a day off work.

I think it's hard to go wrong with the Logitech stuff, very well made, seem to last a millennium and offer good performance.

Anyone know when the G303 is going to be available at retailers? I noticed you can already buy online but don't fancy taking the hit if I don't get on with it.

I don't think anyone really knows but a certain 'rainforest' UK competitor is at present temporarily out of stock so I don't imagine it's many more days now, it's been a month or so since it was announced so at least they're now listing it. I've bought direct.

I was in a similar situation. I purchased a g400s, sent it back, couldnt hold it. I then got a coolermaster xornet for like a 10er, and I love it! fits my hand like a.glove. They also do one in the same shell called spawn I think. you can't find it in europe easily, but its got what is considered a perfect sensor if that's important to you.

Have a look at those if you want a nice claw / finger grip mouse.

There is indeed a Spawn, same shape as the Xornet except red, and has a higher DPI sensor. Unfortunately the Spawn has been EOL for some time, but you may be able to pick up Xornets still.

Well a little update on this.

So I managed to get a play with a Deathadder, Steelseries, Corsair M65 and a Logitech G402.

The Deathadder did feel cheap, looked cheap. A nice size but probably a little on the big side for my size hand.

The steelseries was way too large for me and felt like I had to transition away from the comfortable claw grip I'm used to.

Corsair M65 was quite a nice size and I like the curve on it for a thumb position, however the side buttons and the sniper button did feel a little too far forward for me and I ended up kinda pressing multiple buttons at the same time trying to reach them. The thumb resting position also felt like cheap plastic.

The Logitech G402 just felt too big and always felt like I had my finger on one of the programmable buttons.

So I was after something pretty much like the Corsair M65 in size but with a bit more quality and buttons within reach. So I opted to order the Logitech G303, it's slightly smaller than the M65, quite a bit lighter and buttons in all the right places. The left & right click are nice to use don't require too much force and the scroll wheel button has a nice positive feedback upon pushing on it.
The overall quality is excellent, the thumb rest is a nice matte plastic which doesn't feel like it would be slippery with sweaty hands. The part at the back with the RGB lights is like a rubberised texture. The cable is a nice touch, nice smooth braiding.

Only real downside I have to it is the two side buttons lack a bit of positive feel for my liking.

Not had a chance to test it out yet, as I'm currently transfering my setup over onto a new desk.
