Recommend a MP3 player please

The flac thing isn't really for the quality, but due to the fact that much of my music collection is flac, and I would like to avoid having to transcode if possible.

why? that makes no sense at all. because your music is in flac format already, transcoding takes no effort at all. any decent converter will maintain your existing tags and file structure. all it will take is few clicks to set it off and you can leave it running in the background for a short while.

even if you use mp3 at the highest possible setting (v0 that is - 320kbps CBR really is for losers), you'll still fit 3-4 times as much music on your player as you would with flac. and if you experiment with lower bitrates, you can squeeze even more on.

i have nothing against flac. that's how i rip my cds. but on an 8gb device (even with expansion slots), it really is a criminal waste of space.

But this is what I want to avoid. I want to avoid duplication of my music and having to run any converters. I simply want to plug the player in, copy the music across and go. Having now got the Sansa Clip+ this is working how I want it to. I've got about 1500 tracks on the player in a mix of mp3, flac and ogg files and I haven't had to touch any converter.

Ordered;

4Gb Blue Sansa Clip+ (for my GF)
8Gb Black Sansa Clip+ (for me)
Head-direct RE0 IEMs (for me)

:)

Apologies for bringing up a slightly ageing thread, but I was wondering if you had received your RE0 IEMs yet, and if so what is your opinion of them with the Clip+? I've recently bought the same player and am looking for a decent set of IEMs to go with it, so i'd greatly appreciate any thoughts/opinions you might have.

Thanks :)
