Ok I need some help with choosing a music player on Vista Ultimate. I would like it to be simple, I've tried WinAmp for example and there is far too much going on, just want it bob standard. Would like to be able to set it to add everything from a single folder and for it to easily update. Would like it to communicate with Last.FM but it's not desperate. Something fast, simple but sweet. and one more thing, it needs to be able to play all audio formates, such as FLAC, OGG and VBR, etc.

I've have a look through the freeware utilities list but I really don't know what's good and what's not. I've tried Foobar and MusikCube. Foobar was good because of the simplicity but trying to make it useful was hard for me, if there is a good simple tutorial on setting it up that would be good.

winamp lite is perfect for me

i just drag a folder that i want it to play into the playlist

Yah if you want fast and simple then I don't really see much wrong with Winamp. Use the lite version, with skin support and agent disabled. Shut off all the visualisation, equaliser etc and it is very 'bog standard'. I've used it for around 9 years and haven't found any reason to change - did experiment briefly with foobar2000 and WMP but Winamp does the job fine.

Literally all I ever use on mine is:

Previous / Play / Pause / Next / Eject buttons
track info
volume slider
Playlist editor on rare occasions

With the 'classic' skin you can't get much more simple
