I've currently got two 560Ti's in SLI, but thinking it's time to upgrade to a single card. But only really have £300 to spend. Can anyone recommend a single card? My motherboard is a MSI Z97-GD65 if that's needed? Currently looking a 970 seems to be within that price range, but is there a better option and/or a specific brand to look out for? Perhaps also worth noting that I'm sticking with 1080p for the foreseeable future.

My Sapphire Nitro R9 390 works great at 1080p, at 1440p the Freesync (with my supporting monitor) helps in some games such as pCARS in certain car/track/weather/number of opponents combos.

I had 560Ti SLI then made the jump to Powercolor PCS+ 290x. More than double the performance at 1080p Ultra in BF4 (was running Med quality fps 45-80) now at 90+ FPS.

Loved the 290x, powercolor cooler was superb quality. Quiet and cool. I had fans at 40% max which was silent and that keep the card below 70 C.

Now I just bought Sapphire Fury. about 20% increase on top of 290x but there's slight coil whine which bothers me since my rig is build for silent gaming.

But I'd look at a cheap 290x if you can find one OR 390/390x. Great cards.
