recommend a sound card around £25

hi all. im after a sound card for my pc mainly just to connect it up the the dvd surround sound so it has to have a optical out. the MB ive got is a ASUS M4A78LT-M LE. i did buy Asus Xonar DG 5.1 PCI Sound Card but didnt realise it wouldnt fit. thanx

I'm curious as to why the card didn't fit... Are you running in a particularly small case?

none of the notches lined up with anything

whats confusing me is the pci slot has 2 notches and the sound card has 3. so it didnt look like it lined up with anything or does it just plug in? thanx

If it fits in it will work.

You were slotting it in to one of two bottom ports yeah?

The 2 notches thing is for PCI 5v compatibility IIRC. Take a look at PCI 5v cards and you will see notches in the other place.
