Recommend an ISP - NON LLU <BT limited>

Hi there guys; unfortunately as a first note; I'm on a longer line (line stats in the region of 2.5-4meg connection max), and my exchange is a crippled one with no LLU or ADSL2+, only ADSL MAX.

Im basically looking for a new ISP ASAP/Urgently.

Originally I was on Entanet via UKFSN on the other telephone line (which is being removed); so we transfered over to UKOnline; as it seemed a better deal; FUP limits, rather than the hard limits of Enta, which were useful as the family take on foster kids; and well they're not as respectful of internet limits as they could be; not to mention they CAN be expensive.

Unfortunately; it seems whilst UKOnline's CS is very good; thier non-LLU service is pretty terrible; and obviously oversubscribed [even on an IP profile of 2500 right now, Im struggling to pull much more than 1MB when line testing]; lag spikes in games, and poor throughput, as well as higher pings than Enta are order of the day.

Because of a hiccup with the family running cables around; the line only began being used last wednesday...problem being they have a 10 day cancellation period...I have tomorrow to cancel with them and request a MAC code. I don't really want to be stuck with the level of service for 12 months; nor do the rest of my family who actually use the internet for more than email/light surfing!

Can anyone recommend a good, BT ADSL Max based ISP, beyond Zen/IDnet who are pretty expensive and unfortunately beyond the family considering worth paying ...doh!

Ideally; they won't cap P2P unecessarily, decent pings, and a not completely merciless FUP. I don't mind some limitations; but not 5GB download a month!

It might be back to Enta at this rate!

I've just switched to ADSL24.. another Entanet reseller AFAIK.

Will be here on the 4th of August so can't comment just yet, but I'm moving away from AOL so.. it can only get better.

If Zen et al are too expensive and you want a higher download limit, Enta's about the closest to a decent option there is without LLU.

Id vote for Zen. I use them at the moment and they have been perfect and A+ customer service should you need to use it. However, that said there not the cheapest around.

Hi guys, looks like Im going back to Enta, under ADSL24. I was always happy with them on the other line; but I've gone for family 60, over office 45 which I was on before :)
We were usually fine on 45; but we pushed over a few times; even though the 'free zone' for family usage is smaller, the extra 15GB should cover that, not to mention the ALT system meant I had reasonable throughput, whilst retaining good pings et all even at peak.

Much as I'd like to switch to Zen/IDNet, they're too expensive for the usage levels Im sure the household could manage (5 people using computers); and the family would consider paying for; given Im not here all the time I can't push that really.

I'm not going to go O2 Access as they're meant to be just as ropey with IPstream as UKOnline; seems the good LLU providers are pretty poor when it comes to IPS.

I would have gone back to UKFSN but I hear they're having some issues ATM.

The poor IPS performance I think is more a BT problem :( than the provider - so LLU or worse case enta would be a better option.

No LLU where I live or I'd be on it like a shot; especially after experiencing 14meg connection LLU; however Im on a country side exchange at the moment :(
The MK node for Enta never seems to be too bad luckily, and always provided decent throughput and pings before, apart from the blip where they switched :)

UKOnline IPstream seems to be oversubscribed though; even thier authentication servers can't always keep up and you have to retry.
