recommend basic guide to linux book

just installed fedora core 6 as its used at work, looking for book recommendations, searched and found various websites, just looking for something that i can carry round with me and get used to commands, general linux workings etc.

Linux in a Nutshell or any O'Reilly book. I have a few of them and they are invaluable. Slightly debatable as to if they are carry around books.

O'Reilly do a Pocket Guide to Linux, and I think they use Fedora in their examples too. It is small enough to go in maybe a coat pocket. Deffo small enough to drop into a bag without adding 2kg of weight lol

You can check out linux.org which has some "courses", also bash commands for free...

or

Fedora for Dummies - although I suspect this will be really basic.

cheers seen similar things/guides etc, as for the dummies guide, sounds like it might have been made just for me

I find http://www.linuxcommand.org/ to be an excellent resource when I'm stuck for commands and syntax etc.

If you really want to learn the ins and outs of the Linux kernel then take a look at http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/. I keep going back to it and haven't really got all that far yet.
