Recommend CMS for art gallery site

I have already created a PHP driven art gallery, but it just doesn't look as good as off the shelf modern CMS systems.

Which would be easier to work with if I were to create a new site from scratch?

Drupal, Joomla, Wordpress? good themes?

Any recommendations appreciated?

There are hundreds of portfolio/photography themes for Wordpress. Have a look around here for some examples, and if anything suits what you've got in mind, go for it.

Drupal will give you much more power if you're willing to dig into the code a bit more.

Expression Engine is great, although if its commercial you'll need a licence.

It does get in the way if you need to get really bespoke, but that's true for any cms probably more-so than ee
