Recommend DVD writer software

Just put a new system together with an up-to-date DVD writer, and of course my old, reliable Nero 5 doesn't recognize the drive.

Nero Essentials came with the drive, but this doesn't seem to be regarded too well, and in any case from time to time I need to make bootable CDs etc.

Current full blown Nero sounds as though it's bloated, overpriced and perhaps not too reliable either.

I just need decent burning software that lets me twiddle with some of the more advanced burning options, works on XP and Vista, and hopefully doesn't cost much (of course freeware would be a bonus).

Any suggestions?

/thread /thread :p

I like to use ImgBurn for most things but I reccomend Infra Recorder to friends and family, especially since it has a Nero Express-like menu.
/thread /thread /thread. :D (Two can play at that game!)

So you think the Nero Express-esque menu would be easier for novices to manage then?

Thanks everyone.

Prassi ONES looks interesting but it seems to be dead - the links within the software are no longer valid.

Ashampoo looks OK but I'll give ImgBurn a shot first. There''s no point paying for something if a freebie will do the job.

Cheers!

Yeah, it's not necessarily that it's a better way to proceed in burning, but it is a familiar-looking thing so people are instantly comfortable with it, rather than jumping straight into ImgBurn's interface. Both are top programs. :)
