As title really i thought i would be a little open minded about what games to get. I would like you to recommend me games im not into heres the genres i never/hardly play:
sports
racing
point and click aventures
turn based games

If you do recommend me a game can you tell me why i should get it, as it will take some persuading going into unfamiliar territory:)

Racing - Burnout, but with a gamepad and better to avoid Paradise. Get Revenge instead. Takedown races never get boring. Or, see if you can find a working copy of Rollcage anywhere - fantastic old game with wall & ceiling racing.

Dungeon Seige is a old point and click game from a few years ago, the graphics are still pretty good though, i bought this for 99p online.

Turn based games - Civ4. Civilization is one of the greatest series of games ever, and Civ4 on its own is just Epic. Absolute legend of a game, warning however, you could lose hours of your life at a time with its "just one more turn" addictiveness :D

To be fair it is great for just being able to jump in and out of solo games as well.

So far the games im willing to look into:
GRID
CIV
Burnout pardise

Funny thing is i own them all, but i only played like an hour of burnout, i much prefered revenge on xbox360. I tried grid but done about two races and came last everytime. And as for civ4 i dont really get it, it seems very shallow all i seemed to do was pick a building to make then wait a number of turns while laying down settlements, rinse and repeat.

Im gonna give GRID and CIV4 another chance, as they do seem very popular.
I also own civ4's expansion packs should i play them straight away and in what order, or should i just play vanilla civ 4?

No, install beyond the sword and go from there. If you've not really got into CIV before it will take time to learn its intricacies. But if you give it a chance, its a real time sink. :)

Try the anno 1404 demo - http://www.filefront.com/13908918/Anno-1404-Dawn-of-Discovery-Playable-Demo/
I never go for that type of game but I got the demo on a cd and after about an hour of playing, I bought it on steam straight away. It's a lovely game, great fun.
For your "turn based game" get "king's bounty: the legend" again, not the type of game I would usually go for but it is fantastic and can usually be found very cheap.

XCom - Apocalypse is virtually unplayable in turn-based mode. Very badly implemented IMHO.

XCom - Terror From The Deep (little more than the original game in higher res with larger areas and utterly identical gameplay) is the classic XCom choice. :)
