Recommend laptop <800

Hey all, ive been spending the last few weeks looking at whats out there and the choice is killing me! I dunno what to do.

I've been looking at the HP DV ranges and they look pretty good. Any thoughts on them? Heres some links to them:

Im mainly looking for a solid, all round laptop. I mainly use it for music production so it needs to be a pretty solid performer. Im not that big a gamer, i use my xbox for all that so im not too fussed about all that.

I know i need 4gb DDR3 RAM, a decent sized hard drive and 13-15 inch screen. Processors im confused about, not quite sure what i should be looking for.

I was considering getting a macbook pro 13 inch but im pretty sure i could get a pretty hefty machine for the same price.

Any suggestions? many thanks!

You are going to want an i5 at min I would imagine if you are going to be doing rendering stuff

None of these have firewire / usb 3.0, if that's a deal breaker.

If you want a mobile platform, stick with i5. Which one shouldn't matter really, we're talking percentages.

If you want power, a i7 quad-core will perform better, at higher cost and with added heat, and will have poor battery life.
