I currently use a Tamrac ADVENTURE 9, which is ideal for general use where you take your camera, but when I go out to do 'proper photos' or to a hired job its far to small, I just litterally get everything in now by cramming it in every available spot in the bag, which aint good for some lenses.

I need a bag that is a rucksack (won't stick out like a sore thumb to much if im leaving a club and have to walk to my car...so no big metal box type camera bags etc) will comfortably fit:

Canon 1D MK3
Canon 5D MK2 Gripped
24-70 L
70-200L
24mm F1.8
50mm F1.4
100mm F2
17-35 F2.8-f4
2 x 580EX II speedlights
Range of spare batteries, chargers, (2 pouches about the size of a speedlight flash)
Microphone
bunch cables
laptop
ipad

Yeah quite a lot....

So I guess the biggest 'sensible' rucksack there is...whats out there? as I have nooo idea :)

Thanks

EDIT: Maybe a Tamrac Expedition 9x will hold all that ?

Have a look at the Lowepro Vertex 300AW.

Dunno, I have the Flipside 400AW and I would struggle to fit in all in.

The problem is that a body with attached lens takes of 4 squares, a tele or speedlite, 2 squares and anything else one square..

You need WAY more squares than you'd get in one rucksack

i've got this one for £21.49 it very good. you could get it to use for now or until you find something that hold more, but a lot of the big one that hold a lot do cost quite abit ie over the £50 mark.

AmazonBasics Backpack for SLR Cameras and Accessories Black

When you are carrying around £5k+ in gear you do not want to be risking that in a cheap ass camera bag.

I'd be looking at spending at least £150-200 on a big bag. I've currently got a lowepro 450aw and I think that was around the £150 mark and is pretty good. Chest strap broke last night after 14 months of ownership and although it's something that can be fixed I think i'll need to sew it on.

You also need to take in to consideration is the look you want. You can get massive outdoor rucksacks from an American company but they don't look very professional. You could also got for a hardened case with wheels that look very professional but not something you can easily just throw on your back!

The bigger Tamrac expeditions look really nice and are well made but the smaller ones have a bit of a design issue. On the 5 & 6 the hard plastic insert at the base digs in to your back through the padding. The 8 is fine though as it has a full waist support and padding.

I have the Tamrac Expedition 7 which is where I store my gear and use to cart it all to events; for general stuff you'd want to use a smaller bag (but I figure you already know this). Inside the bag I manage to fit literally all my kit with the exception of my umbrella and stands, so that's:
D300 + grip
Nikon 80-200 2.8 (with larger HB-29 hood)
Tokina 28-70 2.8
Tokina 11-16 2.8
Nikon 50 1.8
Tamron 90 macro
Then all the extras like flash guns, chargers, wireless kit, blower, filters, laptop, tripod, monopod, etc.
At a push I can also fit in a second body and grip (ir converted, so doesn't go everywhere).

After all this there is still some space which if I used the dividers better I reckon could be put to use. If you were to go with the larger sizes I doubt you'd have any problem fitting it all in, with the possible exception of the iPad and laptop together.

even if you get a big bag you are gonna need a fricking wheelbarrow to cart that stuff around :)

what about one of those lowepro wheeled carry on case things ?

http://www.lowepro.com/prorollerx

its like a case that has a reverse backpack in it

I've got an older version of that, the Lowepro Computrekker Plus AW, it will hold all the gear listed and but like anything of that size will be obvious what it is. Think the OP will struggle to find anything that is big/strong enough whilst still be discrete.

In terms of the bag itself I've found it great, regardless of location I can load it up, wheel it around or carry by its handle but when I need a free hand or go off the beaten path I can throw it on my back like a standard backpack.

Fstop Tilopa BC 48 Litres Volume

+1 for F-Stop Gear bags.

I have an F-Stop Loka and a F-Stop Satori and they are the best designed and best made bags I have ever used (And I have used a whole load of Lowpro, Tamrac, Nanau etc bags).

Something like the Tilopa with a Large or Monster ICU should work nicely. Not cheap though, but will also last forever!

Thanks for the info guys ended up getting a new unused Tamrac Expedition 8x for £120, nice price and fits my needs :)

same bag as i got fit loads, and i have room to spare, managed to get mine for £100 in the end. (2nd hand but with al ltha tags as was too big for the person who bought it)
