After using my mums DSLR beast she decided she wants one for her birthday at the end of the month. ATM she's using my Lumix TZ8 from 6 years ago.

After doing a bit of research I settled on the Nikon D3300.
Can you think of anything better for the same money, I dont really want to spend more than £250 and that'll be with len/s
Keep in mind she's no professional and just wants an easy to use DSLR that has HD video. Taking pics of the kids and stuff.

Don't need lots of fancy options but she wants to be able to have different lenses and have a fast shutter.

Been using a P&S - checked.
Not a pro - checked.
Budget with lens - checked.

For the best bang for buck and IQ, I'd say instead perhaps you may want a Compact System Camera instead of a DSLR. They do HD videos, easy to use once used to the additional controls. As your wife never had a viewfinder, this will done fine:

£199-£299 depending on which X-A version you want. Both include a kit lens to start her off, and more lenses are available. Hope this helps.

I was going to suggest a CSC or even a Sony RX100. I've found I use my camera so much more now I don't lug around a bag full of camera and lenses. I tried out my father in laws rx100ii and although it doesn't have interchangeable lenses the pictures it takes are impressive and its tiny.
