Hello,

I'm looking for a new case for my home server and don't really know where to start as I need about 7 hard drive bays and a few spare for the future etc..

As the moment I been getting the icy-dock bays but these are quite expensive for what they are when you look at the cost of a case.

Been looking at getting a proper server case but they are expensive and not really practical as I don't have a rack at home!

Any recommendations? Don't really have a budget.. Looking for something that will fit the bill..
Any Home Server users here? What is your case set-up like?

Where is it going to be put and how often are bits going to change around? if the answer is "out the way" and "not often" then jsut find the cheapest case you can with enough bays. Otherwise maybe some form of Lian-li case or one of the new LanCool ones?

If you want to hot swap surely you could use up to 2 of the the EX-H22 modules (which would leave you room for one DVD writer) and then a Lian Li PC-A70/71 would hold a total of 14 hard drives (4 being hot swap).

Maybe a silly question but are the Lian Li modules for Lian Li cases? They look like they'll fit most 5.25 bays but thought I'd ask...

To answer your question Pea0n, Yes to both, Out of the way (ish) and not often just to add the odd hard drive when the time comes.

I'm liking the look of the Lian-Li PC-A70B but I'm not desperate for it yet, I'm thinking of upgrading my home server so I'll kill to birds with one stone.

Thanks for the ideas!
