Recommend me a cd burning programme please.

Hi, I have a lot of CDs that I want to put on my computer for listening to and also for storage convenience. I want them as MP3 format and I know iTunes can do this for me but I don't want it stirred in I tunes. I want it on a passport drive so I can plug it to my various computers and laptops etc. so I jut looking for a preferably free method of getting my music on to a hard disk.

Unless in wrong about iTunes of course then maybe I just need pointing in the right direction.

Imgburn You can make an image file from disc. This should give you an ISO file which you can open with something like 7-Zip.

i think there is some confusion here. if you have CDs that you want to put on your computer/passport drive, you want a CD ripping application.

you use the term burning when writing files from your computer to a new blank CD.

i prefer foobar2000 but some people grumble it's too much effort to use so you might prefer something easier like winamp, musicbee or media monkey.

Get the free trial of dBpoweramp which will rip to whatever format you wish.

ripping a cd.... pretty sure you could just use windows media player for this...
