hi all

could somebody recommend me a graphics card please. i havent currently got a graphics card in my system im using the onboard HD4250 and as it currently meets my requirements i never bothered getting an independent card.

my budget is around 150, i would like to stay as close to this as possible and under is always better.

my current system is
board ASUS M4A88TD-M EVO / USB3
CPU AMD Phenom II X6 1055T
psu Anteq Basiq 550 Modular
Ram 4GB 1600mhz DDR3
2 x 1TB sata hard drives
1 x 2TB sata hard drive
1 x DVDRW

its used mainly as a media center and general surfing as its connected to my TV so will need HDMI out, i wouldnt mind being able to play a few games on it thats why i decided to get a graphics card in the first place. i dont need one that will run games on highest resolutions because my TV support is 1280 x 720p only

only reason im asking on here is that in the good old days a graphics card was better if the model was higher, nowadays im not too sure.

like is it better to have a higher core value or memory speed, is 2GB always better than 1GB, then what difference would stream processors make.

ie which is best
1 Core: 900MHz, Memory: 1024MB 4800MHz GDDR5, Stream Processors: 1024, or
2 Core: 1100MHz, Memory: 1024MB 5200MHz GDDR5, Stream Processors: 640,

number 1 is 131.99 and number 2 is 119.99

anyways thanks for reading and hope someone can shed some light on it for me

also if i could do with a bit more ram which should i get, im running W7 64bit

thanks craig

Would go for a 7750 which didn't have GDDR3 memory but rather GDDR5.

You could afford a 7850 on that budget which would be best but I am unfamilar with the PSU.

thanks for quick replies.

with 150 still in mind looked at these 7850;s, the first 131.99 and the others 155.99, which would be best,

my PSU is 550 watts, how would i find out if it would be powerful enough, bearing in mind im not going to use the card flat out so it should use less power.

thanks for all replies, i was just about to purchase the gigabyte 7850 linked above but after remembering my mate telling me to check size cos some cards are massive, i realized it would have been to big for my case.

after measuring from the backplate to my hard drives i only have around 200mm so looks like ill have to keep looking

there are a couple of 7770s but still not sure which one would be best, they are
