recommend me a credit card

as title really.

having never had a credit card befor, and when ever the junk mail about them went straight into the bin, i know next to nothing about them.

im planning to buy my own place in the middle of next year and heard it was a good idea to build up my credit rating.
so just after general advise on what to look out for, the pros and cons.

Research more than just the *deal* that is being offered to you. You'll find once you have one the online system will become very important and if it has poor system you'll soon get annoyed.

My virgin card is pretty good 0% on BT, if you want a decent intrest free period on purchases then the halifax one card is good 12 months 0%
