I am looking for a decent kit to label my optical media. I used to use some cheap £15 thing years ago where you would stamp it on using a stomp machine thing.

It doesn't have to look amazing, as I'm not selling or trying to pass them off as originals. It's only for myself.

What's lightscribe like these days? It was terrible when I first tried it when it came out. Is it still BnW only? What about those printers that label discs?

Just looking for the best method and the best piece of kit for the money. Not looking to spend a fortune either.

Cheers,

I'd look into LightScribe drives again. I use a fairly cheap Samsung LightScribe drive I got for under £50 and it works a treat.
The CD's and DVD's for it are as cheap as chips.

I have the Samsung SH-B123L/RSBP if it's any constellation.

the CD printing on my epson px710w is superb, much better quality than the old press-it style labels, but the cheapest CD printing printer here is £78.

I got LightScribe with my laptop and its awesome! the DVD's are not expensive either, I just buy bulk, I got like 120 sitting in my draw.

How long does it take for a lightscribe drive to print a full image compared to a text label?

Is it still only black and white or does it do colour aswel?

I also like LightScribe:
You can burn images as well as text.
The results are permanent and won't rub off
Although the text/image will be in black you can buy diferent coloured discs.

Ive never tried color so I dont know if it works properly. Its pretty fast doing b/w I normally put it in and go for a smoke outside and most of the time its done unless i do one of the fancy templates

Sounds like a plan. I might be struggling for a spare sata port though. I've only got 6 and using them all. My current optical drive is a BluRay Samsung drive. Hmmm... I'll find a way. Gonna have a wee look on OcUK just now for one.

Buchanan, it's the same Lightscribe drive as mine! If you read my post :)
Although I didn't buy mine from OcUK. The software is on the website!

Similar kind of software if not better to Nero 8. I love it.

The Samsung website. I didn't buy mine from OcUK either lol. It is a tad overpriced on here, most of there stuff is usually well priced and if buying major components I always tend to favour OcUK.

Anyway. Software>samsung site you say?
