Recommend me a flow chart program

Hi all, I'm after a free & EASY to use flow chart program. I only really need to put basic flowchart shapes in & rich text would be an advantage but that's about it.
I've been trying to create one with pencil but it's basically not very user friendly in my opinion. Can't even copy/paste properly

Is this still the default go-to for free flow chart diagrams?
I'm by no means a programmer, but when I script I like to lay out high level flow to keep me on track, and wondered if there was anything better than "draw dot io" that I shoudl be using ?

I'm quite fond of mermaid.js - the "diagram as code" ethos makes it very portable. Very easy to include in markdown, html etc and supported on github, confluence etc. Look here for flowchart examples.

I'd still use draw.io when you need to include images in stuff like powerpoint.

Which ones would you say are simple to use? <-- that's a big thing for me, my brain can't script and struggle wiht an interface at the same time

Still fond of Xmind free version, has many styles and templates but I like to brain dump designs and projects in that fashion, more so than flow charting.
