im looking at for a free VM program that will allow me to install the 64bit editions of XP and vista onto it.

i tried virtual box but i cant get 64bit xp or vista to work on that as it says i have a 32bit CPU when i have a q6600

Go to 'File', 'Options' and find 'Hardware Virtualization'. Once you've found it, select it so you're able to tick the box - that's all you need to do.

Alternatively, VMWare is good. You need the Server version if you want your VM to be able to use more than one core. Otherwise Workstation is fine.

Actually, I needed to enable Virtualisation in the BIOS on my laptop first before that option was available to me, so you may need to do that.
