I like a biographies, memoirs, reminiscences and true stories.

Looking for inspiration to find a good audiobook to listen to..

I've listened to hundreds. Too many to remember or list.

Here are just some of the books that I enjoyed:

Losing my virginity, Richard Branson

Angelas ashes, Frank McCourt

Marching Powder, Rusty Young

Cry of the Kalahari Marc and Delhia Owens

Strangeways Unlocked, Neil Samworth

Agent ZigZag Ben Macintyre

Handstands in The Dark, Janey Godley

The Guvner, Lenny Mclean

I am Sparticus, Kirk Douglas.

With The Old Breed, Eugene Sledge

Lots of WW2 memoirs battle P.O.W. and holocaust. Quite a few criminal memoirs.

I could go on for ages trawling through my library and listing books I enjoyed. The above are just a few.

I have a mind to find a good Bank Robber memoir.

Any recommendations for future reading?

For a total change: Empires of the Sea, by Roger Crowley. A history of the Ottoman/ Spanish/ Venetian naval wars of the 16th century.

It reads like an adventure story, and ends with the battle of Lepanto- the biggest naval battle until the 20th century.

It's probably the best, and most readable, history book I have ever read.

Conquerors by the the same author (crazy Portugese!) Is also excellent.

Know what? Change is as good as a rest. I'm going to have a look at Empires of the Sea. Normally history, older than a hundred years or so,makes me go glassy eyed. (I can't really blame my history teachers from my school days for that. My own refusal to pay attention was the real reason :). But your description makes it look a bit interesting. I'm gonna give it a go. Thank you.

There might be something that tickles your fancy in amongst these ones https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/what-book-are-you-reading.18297636/

Yikes. 233 pages in that thread. Bound to find some decent stuff recommended in there. On page one of that thread I saw a book mention of "Stay Alive, My Son". I'm going to have a shuftie at that. The title reminded me of a book I listened to called "First They Killed My Father". Memoir of surviving Khmer rouge in Cambodia. It was one of those books I'll always remember. Thank you.

A book you could read in your spare time

Erm, call me thick but I have no idea what this refers to. "Some ginger"? I dun did me some googlin' an' all but ah still must says ah is stumped. Am I going to kick myself when someone spells it out?

You've probably already read/listened but Snowing In Bali is a great read in the same vein.
This thread keeps coming up with good ideas. My reading/listening list is overflowing.
Another one I would suggest:
The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz.
A true story of false imprisonment in the Gulag and the struggle to escape. Gobsmack read.
