Recommend me a Graphics Card

Hi there,

I'm wondering if anybody can offer some advice as to which gfx card I should go for? My Ati 4870 blew up last night and I'm at a bit of a loss. My system is quite old and I was in fact in the process of saving for a new build. At the moment I can't afford a complete build just yet but I'm wondering if I could purchase a graphics card now to use in my old system, with the view to move it over to the new build when I have the funds available.

My current spec is:
ASUS M4A78 PRO AMD 780G
HIS ATI RADEON HD 4870 (dead)
RETAIL BOXED AMD X2 250
GEIL PC2-6400 2GB (2X1GB)

I have no preference over Ati or Nvidia and I've got £250 to spend, but I can spend slightly more if necessary. Could anybody recommend anything?

Was your 4870 still cutting it for you? If so (bearing in mind you are saving for a new PC), consider buying a second hand card. You could probably get something that performs way better than a 4870 for under a ton if you look. Put the rest toward a new rig :)
