Recommend me a highly reflective running jacket for my wife please

Does it need to be a jacket, e.g. waterproof? Getting breathable, reflective and waterproof all in at less than £100 may be tricky.

I've used DHB stuff in the past when I was a keen cyclist and have never had problems with their offerings.

DHB stuff (at least the mid to high range) is decent quality normally. But I totally agree with PermaChanged - it's tough getting anything that can do all three of those for less than £100.

There's a company called Tinwolf who make custom Hi-Viz kit for motorcyclists. The Mrs got one ages ago.

Most are mesh vests (so breathable) and can be chucked on over a waterproof or whatever the preferred running gear is.

Good shout. Tbh until recently I always just layered up with multiple tops that were good at one particular thing and it worked well. Cycling rather than running but some similar concepts.

Forget reflective jacket, buy a jacket based on breath-ability, stretch and comfort. then run with reflective bands or the light-harnesses you can buy.

Reflective jackets are bound to be pretty terrible, not least they wont be that effective at alerting drivers.

EDIT: this kind if thing is much more useful.

I typically run with a hi-viz sash band like for cycling, most of running and showerproof gear is also red (no black in wardrobe)
None of this is emissive though so also considering a torch of some kind maybe (TRON type ) harness DP showed.

Thanks again for the replies, as a cyclist myself I know you generally get what you pay for when it comes to material quality, hence when I actually get by backside into gear and ride my road bike, I wear a £250 Sportful Fiandre Extreme NeoShell jacket, and if my wife wants to buy herself something similar, she's more than welcome to, lol!

As it's going to be a Christmas present and be used predominantly throughout the darker, colder winter months, I've ordered her the Proviz PixElite Running jacket - http://www.provizsports.com/en-gb/pixelite-tech-running-jacket-womens.html, came in at £63 delivered with a free light up arm band as they've got 15% off site wide at the minute. :)

When the summer comes around again, I'll look into some of the vest, sash, light options, but hopefully she'll be generally running in daylight by then.

The Proviz PixElite has arrived, looks good and fits well in her normal size 10, it's a soft shell type material with the reflective bits stitched in, so it should be a lot more breathable but still warm enough until the lighter nights get here.

You mentioned you used a Sportful Fiandre Extreme NeoShell jacket - do these manage to shift all of the sweat/moisture from running ?
or, do you nonetheless have a damp base level (polypro) shirt ...

my reference point for running is a non-breathable (Montagne) Pertex Featherlite Jacket w/pit slits, which I currenly use if it raining or very windy/cold.
(last Sunday case in point)
If the Neoshell works for running, it should also be good for cycling too where I find I sweat less.

Any other recommendations for goto wind/water yet breathable jackets ?

I use the Neoshell for cycling so I can't comment on its effectiveness for running, but it keeps me warm and dry from both the outside and the inside, it's very good at wicking sweat, I normally wear it with a HH Warm Freeze base layer down to about 3°C.
