So I'm looking for a new laptop for when I start University (Network Management and Security)

By MINIMUM it should have a 64-bit processor (For Virtualization), with at least 8GB RAM (12GB preferred)

If possible, Windows 8 Professional :D

Thanks

Hi,

Any reason it needs to be a Laptop? You'd get much better for you're money (performance wise) with a desktop.

What is your budget for this?

£1200.

Well the GX60 is currently £800 with AMD/ATI stuff in it. so bang for buck, thats pretty good.

All the way up til £1300 you're getting i7 porcessors, 8gb RAM. Hit £1320 and you can get either the P34g 14" gigabyte with i7 2.5ghz, 16gb Ram and GTX860m. Or the MSI GS60 15.6" with i7 2,4ghz, 16gb Ram, GTX 870m. Both are light, 2cm thin, perfect for travel and powerful with the innards!

Its your choice really!

Without knowing budget I can only recommend what I know to be the true bargain within the Gigabyte range and its this: LT-008-GI @ £1139 (was £1,400)

-Display: 15.6" Full HD IPS Display (IPS Panel gives better viewing angles and more accurate colours)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-4700HQ, 2.4~3.4GHz
- OS: Windows 8
- RAM: 16GB
- GPU: nVidia GeForce GTX 765M 2GB
- Storage: 2x mSSD 128GB + 1TB HDD 5400rpm
- ODD: Blu-Ray Writer
- Weight: 2.26Kgs
- Dimension: 385*270*21mm
- Warranty: 2 Years

Hope that helps you chooze

Laptop preferably since then I can use it whilst travelling, and during university hours :D

Anyway the budget is £750-1200

Ahhhhh sorry, you did give budget, missed that info !

Well the recommended unit looks bang on the money and I am sure you wont be disappointed if you chooze to go with it,,,, be quick though only 2 left in the UK:-)

Well, baring in mind the 8xx series is a significant step up from the 7xx series (35% better crysis 3 performance for the 860m, 90% for the 870m), if you're only doing mid range gaming, that looks like the winner! Super thin, fully loaded, great price! You'll still be cracking out crysis, BF4, COD, etc on a GTX 765m. And you get your i7 2.4ghz processor, 16Gb RAM, and a bluray writer! You're looking at £260 more to upgrade to the 870m in the P35k v2 (£1400).
